Blade Runner 2049
An alternative film poster about identity and technology.

The idea
For this assignment I was asked to design an alternative poster for Blade Runner 2049. Rather than recreating an existing poster, the goal was to translate the film’s atmosphere and central ideas into a new image based on my own concept.
I placed the eye at the centre because it connects to themes such as identity, control, technology and the boundary between human and machine. I wanted it to feel as if the eye were being watched or scanned. For the shoot I used an extreme close-up with blue, purple and pink light. I chose these neon-like colours because they strongly echo the futuristic visual language of Blade Runner 2049.
After the shoot I extensively edited the photograph in Photoshop, adding buildings, rain, textures and Japanese characters to create more depth and a darker cyberpunk atmosphere. The result is a mysterious poster that does not reveal everything at once, but invites curiosity about the film’s world and story.

I translated identity and control into one compelling eye.
